Long Time No Post

We to say the least it has been a really long time since I last posted. I thought that life would slow down once Morgan started school and that I would have all this free time on my hand. Boy was I wrong. Time seems to go by even faster. It's hard to keep up with my blog. Facebook seems to get all my lastest post. But I am determined that I am going to do my best to get my blog up to date if it kills me. So please check back soon for more up to date post. Lots going on this year. Stephen and me turn the big 4 0 this year. I think I will end on that note. Cheers!

9/11/11, We Will Never Forget

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the worst and most tragic day in American history. I couldn't tell you what I did or what I ate two days ago but I can remember exactly where I was and I can even tell you what I ate on that dreeded day. I look back on that day and think about all the lives that were lost. All the children that are without a mom, a dad or even both. I think of all those lifes that were lost just doing what they do. I can remember sitting and watching the news for days and days praying they would find survivors or even their bodies so that their families could have some sort of closure to this terrible tragadity. I will never forgot the image on the news as you watched people so desparate that they jumped out of windows of those buildings because they would much rather die from the fall than burning to death. Here we are 10 years later and I still remember it as if it were yesterday. I was just telling some friends at work that I really can't remember life before 9/11. I forgot what it was like not to have to strip naked to get on a plane. I forgot what it is like not to freak out when I see an airplane flying close to downtown. But most of all, I forgot what it was like to feel perfectly safe in America. I realize now that we are not safe. We like to think that we are and that homeland security is doing their job. But no one in this world is safe when there are terrorist in this world. So all we can do is pray. Yes, I said it PRAY!!! Pray to the Lord for our safety. Pray that he sheilds this great nation of ours and those that are fighting to protect it everyday. So as we remember those we lost on this tenth anniversary I wonder where our country, heck where the world will be in another ten years. My prayer is for our troops to be home safe with their families and our nation be strong as ever. I pray for peace on this earth not just for me, but for my daugther and for her future. 9/11, it is a day we will never forget.

Dallas Heart Walk 2011 Go Team Lia!!!

A dear friend has a little girl, Lia, that was born with a heart defect. So today Morgan and me took part in the Dallas 2011 Heart Walk in her honor and in remembering a little sweet angel, Lauren, that passed away just weeks ago from complication after her third heart surgery. I have seen Lia over come things that truely baffle me. She is the strongest little girl I know and she is very well loved by many. I look at her and think that this little girl is going to do great things in life. We had a wonderful time walking with my Baylor family. Morgan walked the entire walk. That's over 3 miles. She did great and even made a few new friends, Aubrey and Jayla. After the walk we went to Spagetti Warehouse downtown and had lunch. We were joined by a dear friend from work, Holly, and her granddaughter Jayla. We had a wonderful time. To end the perfect day we went to The Harbor tonight and ate at Paradise Burger. It was such a beautiful night that we sat outside and enjoyed our dinner on their patio. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a walk down to the lake. It was a perfect end to the perfect day. Looking forward to next year's walk! Go Team Lia!!

Day 5 and our week is done!

Day 5! I can't believe we have finished the first week of school already. It went by so quick! I went and had lunch with Morgan today. Brought her her favorite, Chic-fil-A. It was so fun to go up there and see all her little friends and watch her interact with them. She has a pretty big class. Of the 22 students in her class there are only 8 girls! We took her teacher a little gift today because of the crazy week she has had. She loved it. Morgan had a wonderful first week and she has learned so much in just one week. I look forward to having lunch with her again. Looking forward to a nice low key weekend and sleeping in tomorrow!

Day 4 was a great day. Morgan is making friends and learning so much. She is so excited about going to school everyday. Best of all, she goes to bed when I tell her to. I wonder how long that will last. Things couldn't be going better. As for me, I have completely enjoyed being home with her this week and being able to take her and pick her up from school. I never thought that I would say this, but I really think I could enjoy being a stay at home mom. I am looking forward to going and having lunch with Morgan tomorrow and seeing all of her little school friends and putting a name to a face. Day 4, you were a complete sucess!

This morning I took Morgan to Galaxy Ranch to make sure she is comfortable with the morning routine of riding the bus to school before I have to go back to school next week. So being the crazy mom that I am, I dropped her off the drove to her school and waited in the parking lot to make sure she got of the bus and into the school ok. Well, she did it. She got off that bus and trucked right into the school as if she had been doing it for years. As I sat there and watched my baby girl walk into that big school all by herself, my eyes filled with tears. She is growing up. My baby girl is no longer a baby. She is a little girl coming into her own. She is AMAZING! I am so proud of her and for the little girl she has become. Although we have our moments, Morgan is the best daugther a mom could ask for. Morgan I love you so and I am so proud of you.

Day 2! Yesterday was a great day. Morgan loves her class and is making new friends. There was a small little incident at her school where one of her classmates got on the wrong bus and was missing for 3 hours. Just glad that he was found safely and no harm done. My heart goes out to him and his family. I can't even begin to imagine what they went through yesterday. That is the prime reason that I took off this week so that I can make sure that Morgan transitions well this week and that she has as minimal stress as possible. So far she is doing great. Much better that I excepted. But that doesn't surprise me. She always blows me out of the water with all that she can do. Guess I just don't like seeing her grow up so fast. Looking forward to seeing what day 3 brings.

First Day of School!

Well the day I have been dreading for the past five years is finally here, Morgan's first day of school. Although I am totally excited for her as she starts a new chapter in her life, part of my heart is breaking. My baby girl is growing up, and growing up way to fast. It just seems like yesterday I was holding her in my arms as I watched her sleep so peacefully. Now, I am sending her out into this great big world of ours. So I will pray for her safety and pray for Mrs. Keegan as she helps build my little girls mind and set the stepping stone for her education. I know it is going to be a great year full of wonderful memeories. Oh, and for the record neither me nor Morgan shedded a tear today!

Tonight was meet the teacher night at Morgan's school. We are so excited to have Mrs. Keegan. She is super sweet and I think that it going to be a great year. Morgan is so excited because her best buddy Grant is in her class as well. So here is to the next chapter in her life. I know that it is going to be a great one.

Well it has been a long time since I have posted to my blog. Lots has happened since my last post in December. Yes, December. We have lost a dear loved one, changed schools, gone on two wonderful trips, started and finished soccer, ballet and tap. Not to mention gone through a broken nose, and a surgery. Since it is spring break I had both the girls today so we went to Grapevine Mills Mall for a little lunch and some fun. Of course we had to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe and the girls enjoyed a ride on the carousel and the train. After that we went to the park for a little fun. It was fun getting to spend time with Lauren, but now I truly know why I only have one child!! They wear me OUT!!!

Soccer Rocks!

Well it is finally here, our first day of soccer practice. We had a rough start but she finally gave in a had some fun. I think that she is going to do very well at soccer. She was not very happy that her friend Ava could not be on her team because she is in a different age group. But after she saw another girl from her school was on her team she perked up and was happy to join in on the fun.

Today at Morgan's school they celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday so she had to wear a Dr. Seuss costume or something related to Dr. Seuss. So I made Morgan a Cat in The Hat shirt per her request. Turned out cute, but I think the red and white striped tights made the outfit. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Emma spent the day in the house today because it was cold out and she and Morgan had a blast together. I was busy cleaning house when I realized that I had not seen Morgan nor Emma for a bit so I went into Morgan's room to find this. Morgan had decorated herself and Emma with her stamps. All I can say is Peace, Love and Humor! There is never a duel moment in the Shellito house. Thank goodness it is washable!

A New School

It has been with a very heavy heart that I pull Morgan from her sitter that has raised her since she was one, but the time has come. With Valerie battling the fight of her life, I decided that it was time to place Morganin a new school near our home. It is the school I was planning on her attending once she started kindergarten, just had to make the move a little sooner than I planned. Today was Morgan's first day. She was so excited. I think mainly because she got to take her lunch. Since she still is having a hard time eating solids, the school said that she could bring her lunch until she was better. I am so happy that she had a great day and that she is making friends.

Nothing Like a Cold Wash Rag

Well we are day three post op and Morgan is not feel good today. She has not been drinking well today and and it is taking it's toll on her. She has not slept well in days so I think that is finay catching up with her as well. She was so pitiful laying on the couch. She managed to ask me for a cold rag. That is my cure all to everything. Once I placed it on her head, it was about five minutes later I turned to check on her and she was out like a light. As my mom used to do for me, I don't think there is nothing a cold wash rag can't fix!

Surgery Day

Morgan had her tonsils removed today. This was a day that we have been dreading for some time now. But we made it through it. We did have a little excitement with my mom almost passing out in the recovery room, but other than that the day went smoothly. Stephen handled it very well. Seeing my baby girl in pain like that was not fun. But she is home and doing fine. She will not take the pain medications because she does not like the taste of it. I even took it back to the pharmacy to have flavoring added to it and she still won't take it. So I have feeling that it is going to be a long road to recovery.

Snow Day

Since it doesn't snow much here it good old Texas we have to make the most of it while we can. Morgan had fun playing in the snow again today. We made a Mickey Mouse snow man. Do you think that we have Disney on our minds. It turned out cute. We had lots of fun.

It Snowed Again!

Well it snowed again last night. This time it was 6 inches! Everything was covered. It was so beautiful. We spent a nice quit day at home in a warm house. We played games, took a long nap and I even cooked every meal! It was a great day but I don't think I can take many more days like this. Not a fan of not being able to go out and about.

It was such a beautiful day today. Although it was a little windy, we decided to go to the park to feed the ducks and take a bike ride. Morgan had a blast. These beautiful days have been few and far between so we have to take full advantage of them while we can. Tonight we went out to diner with the family to celebrate my sisters birthday. Not just any birthday, but the big 40! I can't believe that she is 40. It seems like yesterday she was turning 16 and getting her drivers license. I can remember how excited I was that now she could drive me round instead of my mom and dad. No longer did I have to ride the bus because now she could come pick me up. Now she is turning 40. She sure don't seem 40 to me. Maybe it's because 40 is the new 30! Anyway you look at it, Lori I hope you have a wonderful Birthday and may all you birthday wishes come true. Love you!

I am still have mommy regrets over the broken nose. I don't know why I feel so bad about this. There was nothing that I could have done to prevent it, just blessed with a clumsy daughter. But because I was feeling so guilty I decided to treat Morgan to a Build A Bear and to lunch at her favorite resturant The Rain Forest Cafe. I don't know if it made her feel any better, but it sure did make me feel better seeing the beautiful smile on her face al day. Love you Morgan!

Well this is how the nose looks today. Not a pretty sight. Still really sore. I am just glad that we didn't wake up with two black eyes. To make her feel a little better, paw paw came by with Hannah to cheer her up. I think it did the trick.

Broken Bone #2!

Well today was NOT a good day. I worked a half day today so after picking up Morgan we decided to make a stop at Target. MISTAKE!!!! While walking into the store heading to the bathroom I caught Morgan tripping on the floor mat and hitting the floor out of the corner of my eye. It was one of those moments that you see but just can't do anything about it. As I turned to her, she stood up and I could tell right away that something was not right. I see that her nose did not look right. Then came the scream. A scream like I have never heard before. Then came the blood. I'm not talking a little, I am talking ALOT! I grabbed her and we ran to the bathroom. I knew right then that it was broken. I grabbed a handful of paper towels and we ran for the door. Thank goodness my pediatrian is just across the street. We ran in there and as I thought, it is broke. Thank goodness it was a clean brake so he would not have to set it. We left with and ice pack and orders to keep ice on it for swelling and give Tylenol for pain. So we headed home with my heart broken because I know that it hurts her and I hate when my baby hurts. The worst part of this whole thing is that I have no clue what is was that I was going to Target for. Oh well.

There's a New Dog in Town

Paw paw stopped by today to show us the new addition to the Shellito family. He got a new dog and her name is Hannah. Morgan thinks that she is the best thing ever. She cried for 30 minutes non stop once paw paw left. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of Hannah.

It Snowed Mom!!!

This morning I was awoken by Morgan yelling, "Mom it snowed, it snowed!" Needless to say we got up and headed out to play in the snow for awhile. Not as much as our last snow storm by still enough to have a good snow ball fight, and make soe good snow angels. Emma, to say the least, was not a big fan. She had much rather stay inside. We had a great time playing in the snow and I was so glad that I for once did not have to drive to work in it. That made it even more enjoyable!

The Gator Farm

Stephen has a good friend, Dave, that took us out to eat to a place we have never been before. It was a gator farm in Grand Saline, Texas. It was pretty neat. They have so big gators and lots of other animals for the kids to look at. Dave's dog, Cash Money, even came along. It was a great time for all. Next time we are going to come during the day where we can see the animals better. Thanks Dave for a fun time!

Just Scooting Along

It was such a beautiful day today, so I took Morgan to the park so she could try out her new scooter that she got for Christmas. She loved it! I was a nervous wreck because I forgot her helmet at home and I was so afraid that she was going to fall. But we left accident free. Thank you Lord!

A Day of Returns

Today me and Morgan had a full day of making Christmas returns. First stop was the Bass Pro Shops at Grapevine. Morgan just had to have her picture taken with the buffalo. Since we were all the way over in Grapevine we had to stop by Grapevine Mills Mall to eat at our favorite place on earth, Rain Forest Cafe. And we couldn't go to the mall without riding the carousel. Needless to say we did not accomplish much on the return list, but at least we had a great day of shopping and a wonderful lunch. There is always next week!

Happy New Year everyone! It is going to be a wonderful year. 2011 is going to be filled with lots of new adventures. Morgan will be starting school and we have two wonderful trips planned. I think 2011 is going to be a great year. We started out the year by going out to the cemetery to take a final look at this years grave blanketat Shelbie's before we took this years ornaments off. She got some really cute ones this year. Can't wait to put them on our tree next year. So to all my family and friends, here's to a great and wonderful New Year! Love you all.

Christmas was awesome this year! We or should be say that Morgan was very blessed this year. She was even a little overwhelmed. I guess Morgan was good this year because Santa was sure good to her. Stephen was really excited about his new digital camera and I was so excited about my new Ugg boots. I was a wonderful day spent with family. We really enjoyed dad famous spaghetti and took home plenty for left overs. It seems that Christmas came and left us so quick this year. Kind of sad that it went by so fast. Now it's on to New Year's and 2011. Going to be a awesome new year with many exciting new adventures.

Christmas Eve 2010!

This year I had off on Christmas Eve and boy was it nice. We had a wonderful day. We started the day off by sleeping in and then it was up to straighten up the house before Stephen's dad came over so we could exchange gifts. Morgan loves her some paw paw, or paw paw from the ranch as she likes to call him. Morgan was so excited about her Zooables that she received from him. She did have to help him open up everyone of his gifts. She loves doing that. After a quick nap we were up and out the door to go to mom's house. We always have fun at mom's for Christmas with presents and games. My kid can roll some dice. It is kind of scary. Anyway, we had a wonderful time and the kids got lots of goodies. Morgan gave me a Stephen a box of love (see picture below). It was the best present that I got this year. I love it and I know that I will treasure it always. Can't wait to see what the big guy brings!!!!

The Small Price for Freedom

Have you ever had a moment in life that really touches your heart in a way that you never thought was possible. Well today I had one of those moments. Today while I was out running errands I stopped to get gas and for some annoying reason I could not get my credit card to swipe at the pump so I was forced to go inside to pay. While standing in line to pay a young gentleman dressed in an Army uniform came up behind me with a soda and bag of chips in hand. I turned and gave him a smile and he smiled back. I proceeded to ask if he was home for the holidays and he so kindly replied "yes ma'am." Something inside me just made my heart light up to know that this young man, who couldn't have been more than 20 years of age, was out there fighting this horrible war for MY freedom. This YOUNG boy. So when I finally made my way up to the counter I turned to him and kindly asked him to please place his soda and chips on the counter for I wanted to buy them for him. He looked at me and smiled with a shocked look on his face. Maybe he thought this old woman was trying to pick him up. I repeated myself and smiled at him. He just stood there with this huge smile on his face and once I finished paying I turned and handed him his chips and soda. With a tear in his eye, he turned and gave me a hug and said thank you. I told him a soda and bag of chips is the least I could do for a young man who is out there fighting for not only my freedom, but for the freedom of this great nation we live in. He stated that no one has ever done anything so nice for him. I told him he was so greatly welcomed and for him to have a blessed holiday with his family and to be safe. As I walked to my car I saw him get in his car and as I was pulling out of the parking lot all of the passengers in his car gave me a big wave. Isn't it funny that my freedom only cost me a bag of chips and a soda. Such a small price to pay. Pt. Jefferson, this one is for you. Thank you for what you do for our country.

The Great Wolf

One of Morgan's early Christmas presents was a trip to great Wolf Lodge. It was our second trip there and I must say it was just as fun as the first. I don't think I could ever get sick of this place. So much fun to be had by all! We had a wonderful time and Morgan was so excited to get to go swimming in the winter. This years grave blanket is in place at Shelbie's. Morgan is really starting to get into this tradition and has joined the family battle between Stephen and me as to which on of us can pick out the best ornament to be placed on it. This year Morgan picked out two beautiful butterflies for her ornaments. Mine was a a ball with a "S" on it and you turn it on and it lights up. So cute. Stephen has yet to place his. He likes to wait till the last minute to see what everyone else has placed to try to top theirs. Placing this blanket and seeing all the beautiful ornaments people place is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. It is so heart warming to see that Shelbie still touches many people's heart. She sure is a very special little angel. We love you and miss you Boo.

Holiday in the Park 2010

Lori, Kevin and Lauren decided to go to Holiday in the Park at Six Flags and asked us to join them. Even though it was a little chilly we had a wonderful time. Only thing that was missing was my hubby and mom and John. Maybe next year. Thanks for letting us tag along guys. It was lots of fun!

Christmas Parade

This morning we took the girls to see the Christmas parade in downtown Rockwall. It was lots of fun. I can't decide what Morgan liked best, the drummers in the band or the drill team girls? So looks like I am either going to have a rocking band girl or either a high kicking drill team girl. Either one is fine with me.

Every Christmas I have been wanting to go to the Ice exhibit out at the Gaylord Texas but just never have found the time. Well this year me and Lori found the time and took the girls today. All I can say is WOW!! It was AWESOME!! We all had a wonderful time. It was cold. And when I mean cold I mean cold. It was 9 degrees inside there. Cold or not it was worth it. There theme this year was A Charlie Brown Christmas. I thought it was perfect since at Halloween we went on the train ride with mom and it was the Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. I think that we have found a new family tradition and can't wait to see what they do next year!

Giving Thanks

Today is Thanksgiving and even though I am at work spending it with my second family, and the fact that I just can't kick this nasty virus that I have contracted, I can't help but be so thankful for all the Lord had bestowed on me. I have such a wonderful family who are all healthy!!!! This has been an extrodinary year for our family. We went on two fabulous trips thanks to my wonderful father in law and husband. All of my family has remained in great health throughout this year. I have lost some beloved family and friends this year, but in their passing it has made me appreciate the my dear family members even more. I know that they say you should treasure each day as a gift, and how sometimes during the craziness off life that we often seem to loose track of that. But this holiday season, I am going to try very hard to not loose track of the true meaning of the season and remember the great gifts in my life that He has bestowed on me. So to all my family and friends on this wonderful Thanksgiving day, I love you all and I am so blessed to have each and everyone of you in my life. God bless you all.

I can't believe that it is the end of November and we are still having 76+ degree weather outside. Shelbie's tree out front is turning the most beautiful color orange this year. If it were not for her tree turning colors I wouldn't believe we were in fall. The weather has been crazy. But that is Texas weather for you. Sure am enjoying looking out my window at this beautiful tree. It makes me think of Shelbie every time I see it and to see just how much it has grown over the years is amazing. I am so glad that we planted it. We love you Shelbie and miss you tons!

New Addition

We finally decided that it was time to add another member to our family. Since the loss of Lady, we have had this emptiness in our hearts and plus Morgan has asked us everyday since then when we were going to get another dog. So today while at Pet Smart shopping for dog food for Lacy we saw that the Humane Society was there adopting out dogs. Morgan feel in love with this dog and wanted her really bad. So I called Stephen and he gave me the green light to get her. We named her Emma and she is the sweetest dog. I am not a little dog girl, used to our big dogs, so I am trying to get used to having a little dog in our house. She is lots of fun and we really enjoy her company. She's a little hyper but I think that is a lot of Morgan's doing. Morgan absolutely loves her and thinks I am the best mom in the world for getting her a new puppy. So I guess in the end we all win. Well Everyone except Callie our cat. She is not to happy about Emma invading her space. So welcome to the family Emma girl!

Okay, I know that we just finished up with Halloween a few weeks ago, but all those who know me know that I don't do crowds. So I saw that Santa has started his pictures as Bass Pro so tonight we took Morgan to see Santa and have her picture made with him. It was the best one we have had yet. She did great! She even told him what she wanted, a real purple guitar. I was so proud of her. My baby girl is growing up so fast.

Happy Halloween! Boy did we have a fun day of candy and fun. First we started out the day at a birthday party for one of Morgan's little friends and then we headed over to Lori's for pizza and trick or treating. It was a fun day and Morgan looked cute as ever. Mom did a wonderful job on the girls costumes. Lauren stole the show with her car hop costume. Too cute! Can't wait to see what they pick out next year.

Tonight at a local church they do what is called "Trunk or Treat." It is an awesome event where members of the church decorate the trunks of their cars and run games and different events out of them. The girls had a blast. Lots of games and lots of candy, what's there not to like?

Today after running errands I had a really bad headache and tried to get Morgan to lay down with me and take a nap with no luck. So I told her if she would go and stay in her room while mom rested for a bit, I would not make her take a nap. So I turned on her tv and let her play. Well after an hour I got up and this is what I found. Her room was destroyed. After one hour!!!! It reminded me of that show hoarders. You couldn't see the floor in most of the room. It was crazy. But I couldn't get mad because she did as mommy said and she stayed in her room. Well good thing was that my headache went away. Bad thing was it took us over an hour to clean it all up. It's all good!

Today it finally rained at our house. We haven't seen rain in sometime so we were really glad to welcome it. After it poured, there were 5 beautiful, that's right, 5 beautiful rainbows outside our house. This is one we saw from our front porch. They say that a rainbow is a sign of peace. And to think that all this time I have been trying to find peace on earth and it's right here at 2466 Dowell Rd. God is good!!

Trip to the Vet

We had to take our dog Lacy to the vet today to get her shots up to date. This was not a very fun time. Morgan cried all the way to the vet because she felt that Lacy was going to go to Heaven as well since Lady did last time we went to the vet. After continuous reassurance I finally got her to calm down before we actually got there. What added fuel to the fire was that they took us back into the room where Lady had pasted. It was not fun for Morgan nor me. But finally after her exam and shots we were out the door. THANK GOD!!!! Since it was such a bad morning we decided to go shopping. So our day ended much better than it started. Glad that this day is over.

Fall Festival

Since Stephen was out of town, Morgan and I decided to go to the Fall Festival at the church tonight. It was lots of fun. There was one incident with a rabbit that gave many of us a really good laugh, but other than that we had a great time. I just love this time of year with all the fun festival's and great fall fun.

Beware of a Hungry Dog

So yesterday morning when I was heading out the door to work I noticed some siding from my house on the ground next to my patio. When I walked over this is what I found. There is a pack of 4 stray dogs that have been hanging around my house. I had put Lacy in the room on the other side of this wall and I am not sure if they were trying to get to her or what but this is what those dogs did to my house. To say the least, I was not a very happy camper about it and because we live in the county and not the city, the dog catcher is of no service to us. So I called the sheriff's office and they said do whatever means I needed to do to protect my property and family. These dogs attacked my dog while she was eating last week so that is why we put her in the house at night time to eat now. This is one of the down sides of living in the country. People just think that they can dump unwanted animal out here and that everyone out here will care for them. WRONG!!!! So I will leave it up to Stephen, my neighbor and my uncle to take care of these wild crazy dogs that our literally eating me out of house and home!!!!

A New Friend

Ever since Stephen started hunting in Childress, TX last year, he has been begging us to come with him one weekend to check it out. So since we have had such a hard week with Lady, we decided to get away for the weekend and go with him. The man that runs the lease has a little girl named Kennedy. Morgan and her instantly became great friends. She even helped Morgan try to over come her fear of grasshopper's as they spent the day trying to catch them and put them in a cup. On Saturday night, Kennedy has a fall carnival at her school. We were invited to go and glad we did because Morgan had a blast. There was a talent show following and Kennedy was named princess of the fall festival for her class. It was so cute. We had a great time, other than the 6 plus hour drive each way. If I heard the words "how much longer, are we almost there??" once I heard them a million times. Now I know how my mom and dad felt on all those road trips. So sorry mom and John!

It's Fair Day!

After our terrible day yesterday we all decided that we needed to have a little fun so today we went to the State Fair of Texas. We had a wonderful time as usual. This is one of my favorite times of the year, when the fair comes to town. We love the attractions, the food and the rides. I am glad that we have made this a family tradition. I remember as a child how much I loved going every year and all the great times I had with my family and friends. Hope we are building wonderful memories for Morgan as well. We love you Big Tex!

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. Shelbie's 9th Birthday

I can not believe that my little baby girl is turning 9 in Heaven today. Boy, where does the time go. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her. I miss her so much but have peace in my heart because I know that some day I will see her again and we will celebrate many wonderful Birthday's together. Goodbye Old Friend......

Today I got some terrible news that a guy I grew up with and went to school with, Brett Martin, was killed in a motorcycle wreck. It is always heart breaking to know that someone from your passed has passed away. It seems to be even more heart breaking the older you get. Even though I haven’t seen Brett in years, I can’t help but reflect on my youth and think of all the good times we shared together. It reminds me of my 8th grade year. It was the best year I ever had growing up. We were kings of the school, the 8th graders. There was a group of us: Me, my best friend Jennifer, Nicole, Jolynn, Marie, Brett, Troy, Daniel and Dan. Most of us were on the gymnastics team together. Everyday we would all set at the same lunch table. We had a blast. I remember how me and Bret would often have contest to see who could put the most crackers in our mouth or see who could drink the most cartons of milk. If memories serves me right, I believe that Brett won most of them. I even remember one time when we were on a bus heading to a gymnastics meet and Brett stuffed a whole Big Mac in his mouth. It was awesome! He was always doing crazy things like that. He was a guy you couldn’t help but like. He was always up to something. It was a great time. Life was so simple and we hadn’t a care in the world except what we were going to wear to school and whether or not we were going to go to the skating rink on Friday night. This was my youth and I can’t help but think of Brett when I think of that time in my life. It is such a tragedy to hear of his passing. Whether the wreck was his fault or not really doesn’t matter. What matters is that a great friend from my past is gone and will be greatly missed. I don’t think that I have ever had as great of friends as the one’s I had when I was in the 8th grade. I wonder if anyone ever does?? Brett, may you rest in peace. Thanks for all the great moments we shared. I will treasure them always. Good bye old friend……

For a Halloween treat to the girls, Ninnie decided to treat all of us to a wonderful train ride in East Texas. We got up early this morning and made the drive to Rusk, TX . Once there, we hopped on the train and rode to a near by field that was set up with a corn maze, bounce house, petting zoo, and much more. The girls had a blast and so did the grown ups. It was a wonderful day. Thanks Ninnie for the amazing adventure. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next year!

Today was the much anticipated day, Morgan finally started gymnastics. She loves it. I'm not sure if it is gymnastics or the new little friend, Ava, that she met in her class. Morgan did really well. I can't believe just how strong she is. The coach even commented on how strong she is. I can't wait to watch her and all the new tricks that she is going to learn.

Another Day at the Forest

To continue my birthday celebration, I decided to go shopping and take my most favorite shopping buddy. We went shopping and had lunch at The Rainforest Cafe per Morgan's request of course. We had a wonderful day together. It was a perfect birthday treat I must say!

Since today is my birthday, I decided that I wanted to spend the day with Morgan and do something really fun. Since we have not been to the zoo so far this year I decided that today we were going. We had a blast. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time. Would have been a perfect day if Stephen could of been there, but he was out of town working. But either way, we had a really good time. So here's to 38 years! Morgan is by far my greatest adventure yet.

Today when me and Morgan woke up from our nap, I went to put our dog back out in her pin and I found this little dog in her pin. Her name was Sade and she stayed with us for a few hours until her owner could get home. Morgan was in heaven. She wants a little dog so bad. Once we dropped her off at her home, Morgan cried and cried. But I was strong and did not give in. We are NOT getting another dog. Two dogs and a cat are enough! Just glad we were able to track her owners down!

Four Year Check Up!!!

Today I took Morgan to her four year checkup. Wow, is all I can say. She weighs 44.5 lbs and is 44 inches tall. She is off the charts in her weight and height. Even for a 5 year old she would be off the chart and for a 6 year old she would be in the 50th percentile. Her doctor says she is going to be very tall. Everyone already thinks she is 5 or 6. For her daddy's shake, I hope she slows down or he will be beating the boys away with a stick. The only bad part of the visit was the four shots that she had to get. Ouch!! But after her appointment we called dad and he said she could go and get a treat. Ten dollars for every shot. So we went to Toys R Us and spend her loot. She walked away with some cute things. She is finally realizing that you can get one big item or many small. She is going with the many same items. Before we headed to the toys store we stopped by the Harbor so she could play in the water. She has been wanting to do this for awhile so since we were so close after her doctors appointment we stopped by. All I have to say, boy was it HOT!!! We had a really good day even though we had to get those stupid shots. Love you big girl. Mommy is so proud of you for doing so well today!

The Gang's All Together

While putting up some books back on Morgan's book shelf I noticed that she had all the Toy Story gang together, Jessie, Woody, Barbie, Ken and Slinky. I asked her what was that all about and she told me that "Mom, they are all best friends and they must all be together or they will be so sad." Well we can't have any sad toys in this house so they will all stay together on the shelf I guess. To funny. These toys sure are lucky to have her looking after them. Sure do love this kid!

Today I was off work and thank goodness because me and Morgan were feeling under the weather. I have a nasty cold and she a bad cough. So Morgan made the call that we were going to stay home in our PJ's all day and just hang out. Sounds great to me! Little did I know what she had in store for me. We played and played and played. Morgan got a hold of my camera while playing dress up princesses as she calls it. Enjoy. Try not to laugh to hard when you get to pretty princess mommy!

I can't believe that my baby girl turned four today. Boy, where does the time go? To help her celebrate her big day my family joined us and we all went to the circus. We all had a wonderful time and I couldn't think of a better way to help her ring in her big day. I love you Morgan. No matter what, you will always be my sweet baby girl.

Black Widow

About a month ago Stephen was out in his shop and I was in bed reading and he came into the house shouting that he just killed a black widow spider in his shop. I was like ya, ya. Well tonight he came in the house saying that he found another one and wanted to know if I wanted to see it before he killed it. So I had to see it to believe it because these things can kill you. They are very poisonous. So when I went out to the shop to see for myself and boy was I shocked when I saw it. I made him kill it before I got close to it or took pictures of it. It is kind of gross but you can see the red hour glass on the bottom side of it. Cool but creepy! I don't think I will be going out in the shop anymore by myself. Yikes!! Just glad it was out there and not in my house. Hope they stay out there!

This morning I reached into the cabinet in the kitchen to grab Morgan a sippy cup and when I turned my eyes caught this. It freaked me out at first to see two big eyes staring back at me. Woody, is that you?? It is a bag of Toy Story party supplies for Morgan's birthday party. It is a cup that has Woody on it and the bag was positioned just right to look as if Woody was peeking out of it. To funny. Had to share it with everyone.

It's Build a Bear day! Today I took Morgan, Lauren and her best friend Elizabeth to Build A Bear and then we had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe for part of her birthday celebration . It was lots of fun. The girls all had a great time. I don't know who was more beat, me or the kids! Happy early birthday Morgan!

First Broken Bone

Tonight at the ranch while playing ball with paw paw in the hallway, Morgan accidentally shut her finger in the hallway door and smashed her finger. Since we couldn't get the finger to stop bleeding and it was swelling up really bad we decided to take her to the ER. Three hours later and four xrays later we found out that she has a tuft fracture to her little pinkie finger and the cut does not need a stitch. So they bandaged her finger up, and gave a prescription for some antibiotics and we were out the door. Being at the ER till one in the morning is not fun with a 4 year old. Hope we never have to make that trip again.

Stephen did really well. He handled it way better than I did, which was a big shock to all.

We received our pottery today that we did last week. I think that they both turned out really cute.

Six Flags Or Bust!

Since the girls had finished swim classes, we decided to take the girls to Six Flags today. We were not sure how the weather would hold up because there was a high chance of rain and boy was the weather man right for once. We were having lots of fun and then while we were on the mine train the bottom feel out and we got completely wet. I'm not talking a little wet, I'm talking completely soaked from head to toe. So while waiting for the rain to stop we rode the train and then we decided to take a break and head to the car and have our picnic lunch and dry off. Me and Lori had to buy two tee shirts because we just couldn't stand being that wet. Lucky Lauren dried out quickly and I happened to bring an extra change of clothes for Morgan just in case. Not one of her best looks but hey, it was dry! Once we got back in the park we rode a couple more rides and then the rain came again. This time we ran for shelter. After waiting for the rain to stop we finally had had enough and decided to call it a day. We were all tired after our long week of fun and our daily swim lessons. We will defiantly be back on a much more sunny day.

We took the girls skating today. Lauren is a pro with her own skates. Morgan did pretty I good for it being her first time. Lori had to show off by skating backwards and made me really look bad. I can report that I didn't fall one time. Yeah me! Morgan had a blast and I think that we will defiantly be back again.

Swim Class Graduation

Tonight was Morgan's swim class graduation. We are all so proud of all that she has learned. Thanks to her wonderful teacher. This was the best $90 I have ever spent. I can't wait till next year and see all that she learns. This kid never stops amazing me. Can't believe that just 3 weeks ago she couldn't even hold her breath or swim without a life jacket and now she is jumping in the pool doing cannon balls and swimming the whole length of the pool. AMAZING!!!

While Lori went to watch the much anticipated Eclipse release I took the girls to see Toy Story 3. One word, awesome! It was really cute. Then we took the girls bowling. It was lots of fun. Morgan really enjoyed bowling. Some how she managed to win both games. You go girl!

Pottery

My sisters close friend asked us to come join them in painting some pottery at a place in Forney called "All Fired Up." You go in and pick out your piece you want to paint and then you paint it however you would like and then you leave it for 7 days and they glace it and fire it for you and then you pick it up. Morgan painted this really cute kitty cat piggy bank. I painted a square plate with Morgan's hand print in the center of it to hang on the wall in my kitchen. My best friend Jennifer was in town and she joined us with her little girl Lauren. She painted a kitty cat bank like Morgan's with Lauren. She put Lauren's hand print on the side of the bank. To cute. Lauren, my niece, painted a really cute cupcake keepsake box. Lori painted a plate with both her and Lauren's hand print on it. I really can't wait to see how they all turn out. Some really cute stuff. It was a wonderful day, with some wonderful friends!

Today we took the girls to The Nature and Science Museum at Fair Park and then treated the girls to lunch at The Spaghetti Warehouse down at the West End. It was a day full of adventure and we all learned a few new things.

A Day of Fun

Today marked the first day of Lori being on vacation with us so we started our vacation out with a day of fun free activities. First we started out at the farmers market downtown and bought lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. It was lots of fun. The girls loved eating all the free samples of fruit. Next we headed to Lowe's to do their building projects for kids. The project for today was a monster truck but they ended up having some extras from past projects for we ended up making a kaleidoscope, and a pet treat dispenser. It was lots of building fun. Next we headed off to a free carnival that was on the highway near our house. It was so hot so we let the girls enjoy the petting zoo and a pony ride and we called it quites for the day. We were all pooped by then. Can wait to see what the next week has in store for us all.

Balloon Fight!

Since my vacation has officially started I decided to watch the girls today instead of taking them to the babysitter in order to give her a break before her vacation. So the girls swam and had a good old fashion balloon fight. Pretty sure Lauren was the winner but we dared not tell Morgan that for it would destroy her world. It was nice to get to spend some time with Lauren today. Feels like I never get to see her enough. Love that little girl to pieces.

Hard Lesson Learned

Today I had the erg to clean out my pantry and refrigerator and I sadly learned a very good lesson. While cleaning them both out I was so busy doing so that I didn't realize until I was done that I had tossed out enough unused expired food to fill up 4 huge trash bags and 1 small kitchen bag. It literally mad me sick at my stomach to see that I had spent hard earned money on all these groceries and then just ended up throwing it all away. WHAT A WASTE!! So from now on I am only going to shop from my list and get only what is on my list. No more letting good food go to waste. Not when there are children in this country going to bed at night hungry. It was a lesson well learned.

For awhile now I have been thinking about getting us one of those small above ground pools so that we would have a place to swim this summer after Morgan completes her swim lessons. So I proposed the idea to Stephen and he treated Morgan with the pool as an early birthday present. So far I can say that the pool is a big hit. We love it! We sent most of the day today swimming. I for see us spending lots time in it this summer. Thanks dad for the great gift!

Introducing Barbie!

Stephen informed us last week that there was a new addition to the Shellito family. Momma buffalo at the ranch had another baby. Morgan was so excited. Since she named the last baby, Buffy, I asked her what she was going to name this one. Morgan's reply was Strawberry Shortcake. Then the next day she said her name was going to be Barbie. Since then Barbie has been her name. I really like the name. Barbie the buffalo. Kind of grows on you after a while. So we went to the ranch this weekend to check out Barbie. She is so stinking cute, as Morgan puts it. I couldn't believe how big Buffy has gotten since I last saw her. She is almost as big as momma. We had good time at the ranch. On Sunday we took a break from the heat and went and saw the new Shrek movie. It was really cute. Morgan also had some fun on Sunday night when Stephen pulled out some old sparklers we had left over from New Years out. It was a great weekend back at the farm!

Six Flags Here We Come!

This year we decided to get Six Flags season passes in the hopes of prepping Morgan for next years Disney trip. To say the least, I think it was money well spent. Lori, Lauren and mom all have seasons passes as well so today we all headed to the park and had a wonderful time. The weather was great and the girls had a blast. It has been years since mom and me had been and we had a blast as well. It was a wonderful girls day and I am looking forward to many returns to the park.

A Little Vintage Anyone?

Recently my grandmother passed away and I had the opportunity to go through her house and see if there was anything that I was interested in having. I found these really cute vintage purses that I can't wait to use.

This wool purse is my favorite. I can't wait till this winter to use it. So cute!

The basket weave one in the back is another favorite. Cute little summer accessory to add to any outfit.

Today my step dad turned the big 6-0!!! That's right, 60! So to help him celebrate mom decided to have a party. Since tomorrow is Lauren's 8th birthday, we decided to celebrate hers as well. It was a really fun time and I got to see some of my parents friends I have not got to see in years. Don't know which was harder to believe, my step dad turning 60 or Lauren turning 8. Boy, where does the time go?? Happy Birthday Lauren and John. Love you guys!

Out With The Old!

Recently my grandmother passed away and I had the opportunity to go over to her house and see if there was any of her things that I would like to have. I walked away with some pretty cool things. My top of the list favorite was all her old nurse hats. Yes, that's right. She actually had to wear them. Bless her heart. They are really neat, just glad I do not have to wear one. Another great find was these two old suitcases. I didn't know why I needed them at first but I just had to have them. So I took them home and totally gave them a make over. I think that they turned out really cute. Morgan loves her new suit case and can't wait to take it on a trip with her. Haven't a clue where she is going but as long as she takes me, I'm in!

Dentist Time!

Morgan had a wonderful visit at the dentist today. Dr. Pollack said her teeth look wonderful and for her to keep up the great job. Way to go Morgan!

I think the main reason Morgan loves coming to the dentist office so much is because their office it so cool! She loves the big fish tank in the waiting room. She also enjoys watching great Disney movies on the flat screens while she gets her teeth cleaned. Her most favorite part is getting a treat out of the treasure chest after her cleaning.
