The Big Surprise!

After finishing Morgan's room today I went to pick her up at my mom's house. She had no idea that I had made over her room or should I say Santa made over her room. So when she walked into the house she saw Stephen sitting on the couch. He told her he thought someone had left her a surprise in her room. When she opened the door to her room she ran to the new baby bed that I had bought her. She was so excited about it. REALLY! What about all the hard work I had done. What about the color of the walls, all the new furniture. Then she turned and saw her big girl bed. She was so excited. The look on her face was priceless. It made all the hard work worth it. So I think the room is a hit. She has spent all day playing in it. She loves her new bean bag and sitting in her new reading corner and reading her books. She really loves the new TV and being able to watch all her favorite Nick Jr. shows on it. So I am so pleased with the room and how it turned out. Now I can finally rest and watch what I want on MY TV!!!!!

Morgan realizing that she has a new big girl bed. She was so surprised when she finally realized it was there. I think the picture says it all.

New bed $189.00. New bedding $169.00. Seeing your precious 3 year old sleep in her new bed for the first time, priceless!

Blood, Sweat & Tears!

Well after 48 hours of banged up hands, sweating my butt off from putting furniture together and dragging it from room to room, Morgan's room is completed! I think that it turned out perfect. I did have a break down moment. Friday evening I had to run up to Lowe's to pick up a new paint roller and on the way back I just lost it. I started thinking about Shelbie and how this would no longer be both the girls room. I started thinking about getting Shelbie's room ready before she was born and how I searched for the perfect yellow paint. I thought her room was so cute. When Shelbie passed away we never took her room down. It remained the same. Then when we found out we were expecting another girl we thought we would let Morgan use Shelbie's stuff so they could share something together. So while painting over that perfect yellow paint, part of my heart felt like I was erasing a part of Shelbie. I started thinking that the girls would no longer share anything in this room again. Then it hit me, I am not erasing Shelbie. She couldn't care less what color I paint these walls because her room in Heaven is of colors we can't even imagine. And I know that in my heart that she would love nothing more than her lil sis to have a purple room. Because you know, purple is one of Morgan's favorite colors! So I smiled and a peaceful feeling filled my heart and I knew that Shelbie would love the room and would always look over her sister in that room. So with every paint stroke I thought of Shelbie and I did it for Morgan. Shelbie painted the room for Morgan through me. So as we close this chapter in our lives, we now look at this room no longer as the nursery to the girls, but now the room of our big little girl! The room came together just as I hoped it would and maybe even a little better. I must give a big thanks to my mom who so graciously let Morgan spend the night with her last night and to my sister who came over at the last moment and helped me put the finishing touches on to the room. So as this chapter closes and new one begins, I can't wait to see what this next one brings! All this because one little girl "loves me biggest in the whole world".

Morgan's big girl bed
You can't see it really well but there is a pink chandelier hanging in the corner, which is Morgan's new reading corner. And yes, I made the curtains myself. I was surprised they turned out as good and they did.

Jingle Bells!

While hitting the dollar bins at Target today, Morgan found a special gift for Callie. We got her a Christmas collar to wear. To say the least, Callie hates it! I feel kind of sorry for her. Morgan wants her to wear it all the time and she is so miserible wearing it. Oh well, the things you do for the people you love. Thanks Callie for being a team player!

The Big Project!

Today is the start of the big project, I am redoing Morgan's room. Or should I say Santa is redoing Morgan's room. I have two days to get this room done. Can it be done? Why yes it can! It will be done. Oh yes, it will be done! Wish me luck. Here are some pictures of her room before I started. Well I started taking things off the wall then I remembered I hadn't took any before pictures so here we go. Let the fun begin!

This is Morgan's room as it stand now. Could the kid have any more junk crammed into one room?

After I packed up her room and moved out all the furniture I did a little repair work. There were a couple of cracks on the walls that I fixed. That's what happens when you live in a house that is 27 years old. So I did a little sanding and textured today. Good times!

Some of my handy work.

One Little House

Here is the second annual gingerbread house. Thought that it turned out really cute. Morgan likes Rudolf while I really like the Santa and candy canes. Now if I can just keep Morgan from eating all the candy off it like she did last year!

Shop Till You Drop!

Today Morgan and me did managed to complete my entire list of things that I so desperately needed to get done. I had so much to do and so little time to do it. We had a awesome day shopping together. We even had a perfect lunch at Sonic. I haven't sat and eat at Sonic in forever. We sat, we eat, we laughed. It was awesome! My little shopping partner hung on till the end. On the way to the cemetery to decorate for Shelbie for Christmas, Morgan could hold on no longer and finally passed out. It was a perfect shopping day and I had the perfect and cutest shopping partner.

Morgan catching some zzz on the way home from shopping. Love the Rudolph head brand!

Here is this years grave blanket out at Shelbie's.

Holey Moley!

Boy, oh boy what a day. Today I had so much to do and so little time to do it. I had to be home between the hours of 12-5pm because the satellite guys was coming to install satellite in Morgan's room so we can install her new TV. Well he finally showed up around 2:30pm and didn't leave until after 6:30pm. I had so much to do after he left that I didn't notice until the next morning that he stepped through my ceiling. Well not all the way through but put a really big crack in the ceiling. So now we have to have some guy from their corporate office come out and give use and estimate on the damage and have it repaired. I swear when it rains it pours. At least he didn't come all the way through the ceiling and that I don't have cold air pouring into my house. Well it will just have to wait until after the holidays to get fixed. We have bigger fish to fry, like doing Morgan's room!

The nice crack in bedroom ceiling left by the satellite guy

I guess I should just be greatfull that he didn't fall all the way through the ceiling. Then I would have been really mad.
